"Idol" Not-Watch: Wha' Happened?

So anyway, I was out at a junket dinner tonight and had to get my esteemed colleague Rick to cover the "Idol" performances tonight. And tomorrow night, I'm gonna be flying back from Charlotte and I'm going to miss the results as well.

Anyway, here's what I need from y'all, faithful reader (or maybe "readers")... I need to know what happened tonight. Or at least I'm curious.

Who rocked?

Who stunk?

Who's gonna win?

  1. Taylor's gonna win in a walk. Kat had only one good performance out of three (her reprise of "Over the Rainbow"), while he was solid on all three. (Hell, he even managed to make his stupid coronation single sound decent.)

I actually thought Kat's "Black Horse and a Cherry Tree" was the most commercial thing that happened last night. The fact that the judges panned it is an indication of how far removed they are from what America wants.

Oh, and Taylor was very good.

I also wanted to add: Chris would have been really scary singing Taylor's "Do I Make You Proud?" coronation song. I would have been, like, "Um, sure! Just stop shouting at me."

Yeah, I'm a faithful reader, but no way on god's green earth do i watch the idol. My vote's for Gray Hair, but apparently the Chick is good too. Now I don't mean Chick in a bad way, just like I don't mean Gray Hair in a bad way, it's just that I don't watch and don't know their names. Can't the idol do a full season where they just bad mouth the contestants without us having to be subjected to the contestants singing?

Despite the fact that he is clearly older than Methuselah and his pipes are mediocre at best....Taylor will win. Princess Kat is too shiny and too calculated - we like our Idol winners to get plastic and packaged AFTER they win, thankyouverymuch. This was admittedly my first Idol finals, but I was hugely unimpressed by the whole thing.

  6. Thank you all!

In retrospect, I clearly shouldn't feel too bad about missing EITHER episode.

Go Taylor, I guess. I won't buy his albums, but the guy *did* dress up at the Easter Bunny back in the day. He went through adversity and deserved a break.

    Katharine? Not-so-much. But she's hot.

Maybe I'll blog a bit on the season in general tomorrow. But who knows?

Thanks again for providing the recapper with the recaps!
